Project Description

Renaissance and Counter-Reformation in Valencia

Over 400 years of history endorse this ecclesiastical entity whose founder, Juan de Ribera and his legacy allow to create a unifying thread throughout the visit. The marked counter-reformist character of the monument is evident in the magnificent Renaissance courtyard, in the symbolic frescoes of the painter Bartolomé Matarana or in the collection of sacred paintings of its gallery, with works by such great artists as El Greco, Juan de Juanes or Caravaggio. In the guided tour we will also have the pleasure of showing you the recently restored Flemish tapestries, as well as the magnificent Renaissance staircase with edged vaults.
